About
Michał Kostrzewa
I'm a mechanical engineer. I design process installations in AutoCAD Plant 3D, and I build the tools and training I wish had existed when I started.
For about five years I've used Plant 3D every day on industrial projects across Europe and beyond. My main specialisation is the sugar industry, and I've also worked on fuel and power generation.
MKCad is where that work turns into something other people can use: a course, two plugins, and articles I write when I finally solve something properly.

How I got here.
The unglamorous versionI started from zero. I knew a program like this existed, but I only learned it because a project landed on my desk that required it.
So I learned it the slow way: trial and error, digging through forums, reading guides and documentation, hunting for the answer to one specific problem, and testing ways of working until something held up on a real job.
More projects came, and later training that let me organise what I'd picked up. What took me months of scattered searching is the thing I now try to hand over in one piece.
How I work.
What I pay attention toSet the project up before you model
Folder structure, templates, specs and catalogues. These are cheap decisions at the start and expensive ones halfway through.
Split the model so it survives a revision
How the model is divided decides how painful the next change is. I plan that before the first pipe goes in.
Work in an order that holds up
There is a sequence that keeps documentation coming out clean at the end. Most of the pain I see comes from doing the right things in the wrong order.
Automate what shouldn't be manual
When a workaround costs me hours often enough, I write a tool instead. That's where MK Clash and MK Clipper came from.
What I do with it.

Plugins for Plant 3D
MK Clash finds collisions before the site does. MK Clipper cuts a clipping box through the model so you can work inside it.

A course and company training
The Foundations course covers the workflow end to end. Company training does it on your own specs and project structure, remotely or on site.

The software shouldn't be the hard part.
Designing the plant is difficult enough. Training, consulting, or a question about one of the plugins — it comes straight to me, and I answer it myself.
